Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a dry solid lubricant powder, commonly referred to as molybdenite, which is the primary ore from which molybdenum metal is extracted. MoS2 exhibits superior lubrication properties in inert atmospheres and under high vacuum conditions where conventional lubricants are ineffective. It also possesses extreme pressure lubrication capabilities, withstanding pressures up to 250,000 p.s.i., making it highly effective for applications such as cold metal forming. The ore, after crushing and dressing processes, has impurities removed and is granulated into fine powders.
